Christina Nelson

Professional Learning Specialist

Christina is a Professional Learning Specialist with WIDA’s international program. She desings and delivers professional learning opportunities including the WIDA Institute. Christina is also a member of WIDA's Social Justice Change Team where she persues her passion for equitable teaching and learning spaces. Before working with WIDA, she taught and advocated for secondary multilingual learners from all over the world in Lawrence, Kansas, where she gained her master’s degree in education from the University of Kansas and mentored new EAL teachers, before continuing her career in Ecuador, Turkey and Vietnam. In Vietnam, Christina led the 6-12 EAL program and utilized the WIDA framework with her colleagues and students as well as facilitated workshops to international teachers.
