Elizabeth Warren

WIDA State Relations Specialist

Elizabeth Warren is a member of the Consortium and State Relations Team, and currently serves as a State Relations Specialist, working primarily with the Midwest region. She is also the SRS Lead for the Standards, Professional Learning, and Communications and Customer Service subcommittees and a member of the WIDA Conference Content Committee. Her favorite part of her role is supporting SEAs in learning about WIDA and its offerings and helping them maximize their consortium membership benefits. After discovering a passion for teaching English learners during her master’s program, Elizabeth first taught at the university level for several years before beginning her career as a secondary EL specialist in Oklahoma public schools. Her desire to positively impact the lives of her amazing students ultimately led Elizabeth to pursue positions with the Oklahoma State Department of Education that would allow her to assist in shaping progressive state policy related to serving ELs and otherwise act as an advocate for multilingual learners and their families. During her time there, she served in a variety of departments and roles, including traveling the state as an EL Professional Learning Specialist, serving as interim Title III Director, providing direct technical assistance, professional development, and other support services to designated schools and districts as an EL School Support Specialist, and finally, acting as Director of English Language Proficiency Assessments. Elizabeth holds a Master of Fine Arts from California State University, Fresno, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from East Central University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, hiking, and gardening.
