Jonathan Gibson
Director of Consortium and State Relations
Jonathan Gibson is the Director of the Consortium and State Relations Department at WIDA. His team engages and supports WIDA states to fully advantage their benefits and opportunities of membership in the WIDA Consortium. The CSR team also engages and facilitates state expertise within WIDA to effect high quality products and services for consortium members. Jonathan's experience as a secondary EL and Bilingual Education teacher, and as a Nevada LEA and State Title III Director focus his efforts to serve students, empower teachers, and engage leaders through policy and practice.
Jonathan has a B.A. in Spanish and teaching certification in Math and Spanish from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Bilingual Education from Boise State University. He enjoys engaging Latino culture through interpretation and translation, and believes in leveraging bilingual students’ linguistic advantages to help students achieve full educational opportunity. He also enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.
