Narek Sahakyan is an Researcher at the Assessment department at WIDA. In addition to conducting EL policy and assessment related research, Narek provides WIDA states with technical assistance on EL policy, students' ACCESS scores, testing, proficiency and growth and their implications for state and school accountability models and providing quantitative support in examining policies on EL identification, monitoring and reclassification.
He received his M.S. degree in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is currently working on his doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership Analysis focusing on issues of education of long-term ELs. Narek's research interests also include economics of EL education, English Learner reclassification policies, quantitative research designs and large-scale longitudinal data analyses.
