Kristopher Stewart
Assistant Director of State Relations
Kristopher Stewart works with the four regional State Relations Specialists who assist their respective SEAs in taking advantage of their benefits as members of the WIDA Consortium. Kris is also a facilitator of the WIDA Board National Policy Subcommittee, and focuses on policy issues related to English Learners. His previous work as an Associate Researcher with WIDA allows him to digest quantitative and qualitative data in a manner that will make it user-friendly for our SEAs and LEAs.
In the past, Kris worked as an elementary school teacher before moving into roles as a nonprofit manager at an education-related organization, an education policy analyst for the California State University system, and a fiscal and policy analyst for the Governor's Office in Illinois.
Kris received a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology, as well as a master of arts in teaching from Wayne State University. He also earned a master’s in public policy and administration from California State University-Long Beach, as well as a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Languages and Literacies) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
