Accommodations & Accessibility Specialist
Jennifer Voorhees is an Accommodations and Accessibility Specialist at WIDA. As part of the assessment team, she focuses on how to make WIDA assessments accessible to all learners. She currently works with the Advancing ALTELLA Project to update and develop assessments for English learners with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Prior to joining WIDA, Jennifer taught ESL to elementary school English learners for 15 years in an urban school setting. She is passionate about meeting the unique needs of all students and has extensive experience working with dually identified students who have needs related to a disability in addition to being an English learner. Jennifer has a M.Ed. in TESOL from the Universidad del Turabo and a B.S. in Education from California University of PA. She is currently an Ed.D. candidate in special education at Slippery Rock University of PA. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.
